Description
Château Batailley, located in Pauillac, is one of the oldest wine estates in the region, dating back to the 15th century. The name ‘Batailley’ refers to the battle of 1453, during the Hundred Years' War, when the French took Château Latour from the English. Acquired in 1924 by the Borie brothers, co-managers of Maison Borie-Manoux, the estate is now run by the Castéja family. The 60-hectare vineyard is planted on deep gravel soils, ideal for Bordeaux grape varieties. Pauillac de Batailley, launched in 2018, is the château's third wine, offering an accessible gateway to the world of Batailley while retaining its identity.
