Description

It is in 1589 that the name is mentioned for the first time in the „Vieux Papiers du Libournais", which makes Domaine de l'Eglise the oldest estate on Pomerols famous plateau.

Originally property of the church, it was a hospice for people with a disease that were thus kept out of the city of Libourne. The estate was secularised in the 18th century. Domaine de l'Eglise, as the name is indicating, lies next to Pomerols church, close to Château Petrus. The round, smooth and fruity Domaine de l'Eglise has been among the most popular ones from Pomerol for many years.

Tasting

Appearance: Of a dress more often ruby (garnet) with purple reflections in his young years and brick shades as he ages.

Aroma: A rich bouquet with notes of black and red fruits. Presence of empyreumatic as well as leather, roast and vanilla notes.

Palate: Firm enough with a nice length. Woody and tannic wine.

Food pairing: Perfect with hot fried foie gras, duck with orange, brown turkey, hare with Lucullus, Rossini tournedos with cepes. But also grilled red meats.

Service: To carafer for 30 minutes, at a temperature of 16°C.

Potential of guard: Its peak is in 2023, it keeps 20 years.
