Chasselas
Description
It all starts with Albert, the ancestor, the visionary of the end of the 19th century, who planted the roots of the Massy family in these terraced vineyards, who chose the best plots, who knew how to work them with rigour and honesty to produce the wines that launched their reputation.
By Jean-François, the gentleman precursor who continued and developed the story with the nobility born of a job well done. He did everything to improve the quality, to bottle his wine rather than sell it in bulk, as was done at the time.
Luc and Margaret, today, have further developed the story, in this obsession to respect the terroirs as much as possible.
Gregory and Benjamin, the fourth generation, are responsible for keeping this saga alive even further back in time. They have all travelled, discovered, and looked elsewhere to bring back the best practices.
Tasting
Appearance: Pale yellow colour with bright reflections, clear and luminous. It expresses the purity and finesse of Chasselas from the sunlit slopes of Lavaux.
Nose: Subtle and elegant bouquet with white flowers, peach, ripe pear and a hint of citrus. A fine minerality, reminiscent of wet stone, reflects the vineyard’s limestone soils.
Palate: Fresh and clean on the attack. The texture is smooth yet precise, supported by well-integrated acidity. Flavours of white fruit, ripe citrus and gentle herbal notes are enhanced by a saline minerality. Long, pure and crystalline finish.
Food pairing: Ideal with lake fish, seafood, light poultry dishes or soft cheeses. Also excellent as an aperitif with refined starters.
Serving temperature: Between 10 °C and 12 °C to bring out freshness and balance.
