Description
To the south of the village, the famous slope has a particular terroir, the Charmes, once lined with bunches of this species, as opposed to the Perrières, a soil of white, angular pebbles, just above the road.
Some commentators have seen the word "Charmes" as a description of the wine, and others as an appreciation of the pleasant work in a vineyard with a gentle slope, an unobstructed view and plenty of sunshine.
Tasting
Appearance: Pale golden hue with glints of topaz; crystal-clear with fine, steady legs that hint at high extract.
Nose: Elegant notes of fresh almond, warm bakery bread and buttery croissant give way to subtle sweet spices (cardamom, nutmeg) and finally roasted nuts—an aromatic signature of the ripe 2023 vintage.
Palate: Generous yet weightless attack; broad mid-palate powered by juicy, well-integrated acidity. Silky texture balances the vintage’s sunny richness with a limestone-tinged freshness. The very long finish echoes marzipan, warm brioche and a touch of citrus zest.
Food Pairing: Seared scallops, Bresse chicken in morel cream, roasted turbot with brown butter, or 24-month aged Comté.
