Description

Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, is one of Burgundy's great family-owned wine houses. For four generations, the Drouhin family has crafted wines with the ambition of expressing Burgundy's remarkable terroirs with precision, elegance and authenticity.

With a portfolio spanning more than 90 appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers an exceptional journey through Burgundy, from regional appellations to the most prestigious Premier and Grand Crus.

The Maison has been awarded the Grappe d'Or by Gault&Millau, recognising the excellence of its wines and its place among Burgundy's leading producers.

Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Grand Cru is widely regarded as the greatest white wine of Burgundy and one of the world's ultimate expressions of Chardonnay. Located on the Puligny-Montrachet side of the Grand Cru, the 2.06-hectare Marquis de Laguiche estate is the largest single holding within Montrachet. The Laguiche family has owned the vineyard since 1776, while Maison Joseph Drouhin has been responsible for its cultivation, vinification and ageing since 1947, preserving its worldwide reputation. The brown-red soil, scattered with polished white limestone pebbles, reflects the origin of the name "rachet", an ancient word meaning poor, dry land where little can grow. Ironically, this austere terroir gives birth to one of the world's most noble and complex wines.

Tasting

Appearance: Brilliant golden colour with luminous highlights.

Nose: Exceptionally complex aromas of lily of the valley, vine blossom, peach blossom, exotic fruits, honey, toasted almonds and precious woods.

Palate: Remarkably harmonious, combining richness and freshness without heaviness. The extraordinarily long finish perfectly reflects the wine's elegance and finesse. A true symphony of sensations.

Food Pairing: Superb with blue lobster, langoustine, turbot in beurre blanc, scallops, Bresse chicken with morels, white truffle risotto or aged Comté.
