Description
Founded in 1858 in Elciego, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, Marqués de Riscal is one of Spain’s historic wine estates. In the 1970s, the House also played a pioneering role in the development of quality white wines in Rueda by championing Verdejo, the region’s emblematic grape variety. More than five decades later, Marqués de Riscal continues to pursue a precise and authentic expression of Verdejo, seeking the ideal balance between terroir, climate and winemaking expertise.
Marqués de Riscal Verdejo Sobre Lías Finas is a D.O. Rueda white wine made from 100% Verdejo. This new cuvée showcases a particularly pure expression of the variety through a careful selection of trellised vineyards, including vines planted on Rueda’s characteristic high gravel terraces. The grapes are harvested at night to preserve freshness and aromatic intensity. Following fermentation, the wine is aged on its fine lees, rich in inactive yeasts, which enhance texture, creaminess and complexity while helping the wine retain its freshness.
