Machete 2021

Dave Phinney doesn't need anyone's help when it comes to winemaking or designing his famous, creative labels. For these, he draws inspiration from references as varied as the works of famous artists, graffiti and hip-hop. Machete is a blend of Rhône Valley grape varieties bearing twelve different labels. It's sure to be a collector's dream. But how do you get hold of the twelve labels? Quite simply, by taking a case of 12 bottles.

Impenetrable crimson red, black center, soft ruby disk. Gourmet bouquet of fresh Morello cherry juice, dark chocolate truffles and stewed prunes, with hints of blackcurrant jelly, Sichuan pepper and licorice. Intense and creamy on the palate, with ripe, supportive tannins, powerful body and magnificent extract sweetness. Blue berries mark the aromatic, persistent finish, with elegant notes of Arabica and Dominican tobacco.

Appearance: Deep mauve color with violet reflections.

Nose: Rich aromas of blackberry, plum, leather, smoked spices.

Palate: Full-bodied and structured, velvety tannins, long finish with dark fruits and licorice.

Food Pairing: Perfect with duck breast, wild game or gourmet burgers with aged cheddar.

Serving Temperature: Serve at 16–18 °C.
