Description

Produced at the Domaine du Marquisat de Sainte-Marie in Guadeloupe, Karukera Cuvée Christophe Colomb 1493 pays tribute to the year the famous navigator first landed on the island known by the Kalinago people as “Karukera”, the island of beautiful waters.

This limited and numbered edition is a rare blend of old agricultural rums, patiently aged in oak casks that once held Cognac, Sherry and Sauternes. Crafted from pure fresh cane juice of the “Canne Bleue” variety, it showcases the unique identity of Guadeloupe’s volcanic soils and the savoir-faire of tropical ageing.

Tasting

Appearance : deep amber-gold robe with copper reflections, perfectly bright and elegant.

Nose : refined and evolving bouquet, opening with balsamic and resinous notes (camphor, benjoin), then revealing exotic fruits (guava, mirabelle), white flowers and hints of dried herbs and warm hay.

Palate : rich and velvety texture, with notes of candied citrus peel, roasted nuts, tropical fruit and a touch of vanilla. Mid-palate marked by finesse, a gentle woodiness and subtle saline nuances. The finish is long, warm and delicately spiced, leaving a persistent impression of balance and depth.

Food Pairing : best enjoyed neat, at the end of a meal or as a contemplative spirit. Pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, exotic fruit desserts or a fine cigar.

Serving Temperature : serve at 18–20 °C in a tulip or snifter glass to release the full aromatic complexity.
