Description
The Obrecht estate, located in Jenins in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, is today run by Christian and Francisca Obrecht. Representing the fifth generation of the family, they cultivate their vineyards in the Bündner Herrschaft with an approach combining tradition, precision and respect for the environment. Since 2013, the estate has practised biodynamic viticulture according to Demeter principles.
The Chardonnay comes from vineyards in Jenins and Malans, within the Graubünden AOC. The soils consist of sandy loam, weathered siliceous limestone and Bündner schist. Through this wine, the estate seeks to express the landscape, the soil and its distinctive approach to winemaking.
Tasting
Appearance: A bright and elegant yellow colour with beautiful clarity.
Nose: An expressive bouquet marked by citrus fruits, particularly lemon zest, lime and kumquat, complemented by floral and subtly ethereal notes. Aromas of yellow stone fruit and exotic fruit add further complexity.
Palate: A fresh and precise opening, supported by juicy acidity. The palate is generous and well-balanced, with notes of citrus and ripe apple. A distinctive mineral character and gentle phenolic grip provide structure, leading to a long and persistent finish.
Serving temperature: 8°C. The estate indicates a drinking window of 3 to 12 years. Recommended pairings include veal, spaghetti alle vongole and pan-fried pike-perch.
