Insignia - Napa Valley 2019

Joseph Phelps Vineyards is a family-owned winery established in 1973 on a former cattle ranch in St. Helena, Napa Valley. Insignia, first released in 1974, is the estate’s flagship Bordeaux-style blend, globally recognized for quality.

The 2019 vintage is composed of 93 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 5 % Petit Verdot, and 2 % Malbec from seven estate vineyards, including first fruit from El Venadito in Oak Knoll.

Appearance: deep garnet hue, densely colored

Nose: rich aromas of cassis, dark cherry, leafy tobacco, dried rose petals, graphite and earthy undertones

Palate: juicy and dense, blackberry, dark chocolate, silky fine tannins, vibrant freshness, long layered finish

Food Pairings: roasted rack of lamb, rosemary beef tenderloin, aged Comté.

Serving Temperature: 16–18 °C (60–64 °F).
