Description
M. Chapoutier, founded in 1808 in Tain-l'Hermitage, is one of the Rhône Valley's most prestigious wine houses. Under the leadership of Michel Chapoutier, the estate has become a global benchmark for biodynamic viticulture. Guided by the belief that great wines are born in the vineyard, the house crafts terroir-driven wines that faithfully express the identity of each parcel with purity and precision.
Les Bécasses is a superb expression of the renowned Côte-Rôtie appellation. The wine is produced from a selection of the appellation's finest hillside vineyards, including La Brocarde, La Viallière, Côte Blonde, Côte Brune, Côte-Rosier and Les Coteaux de Tupin. The name Côte-Rôtie, meaning "roasted slope", refers to the steep, sun-drenched hillsides that have been cultivated for over 2,000 years. According to local legend, the Lord of Maugiron divided his vineyards between his blonde and brunette daughters, giving rise to the famous Côte Blonde and Côte Brune. Made exclusively from Syrah, Les Bécasses beautifully captures the freshness, floral elegance and depth that define great Côte-Rôtie wines.
