Description

Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, is one of Burgundy’s great family-owned wine houses. For four generations, the Drouhin family has crafted wines with the ambition of expressing the remarkable diversity of Burgundy’s terroirs with precision, elegance and authenticity. With a portfolio spanning more than 90 appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a genuine journey through the richness and diversity of Burgundy, from regional appellations to the most prestigious Premier and Grand Crus

.

The Maison has been awarded the Grappe d’Or by Gault&Millau, a distinction that recognises the quality of its work and its position among the leading names in Burgundy.

At the heart of this prestigious vineyard, Joseph Drouhin owns several gently east-facing Premier Cru parcels: Noirots, Hauts-Doix, Borniques, Plantes and Combottes. Too small to be vinified separately, these parcels are harvested together to create a harmonious blend known as a “cuvée ronde”. Growing on complex limestone subsoils ideally suited to Pinot Noir, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru expresses all the finesse, depth and elegance for which the appellation is renowned.

Tasting

Appearance: Bright, vivid and luminous ruby red.

Nose: Complex and remarkably precise, with aromas of violet, black cherry and delicate earthy notes. With age, subtle nuances of truffle and hints of game may develop.

Palate: A true wine of lace and silk, with noble, fine and elegant tannins. Freshness is beautifully balanced by a velvety texture. The finish is long and persistent, with notes of stone fruit and candied fruit.

Food Pairing: Ideal with veal fillet, duck breast, roast pigeon, poultry with mushrooms, feathered game or mature cheeses.
