Description
Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, is one of Burgundy's great family-owned wine houses. For four generations, the Drouhin family has crafted wines with the ambition of expressing the remarkable diversity of Burgundy's terroirs with precision, elegance and authenticity. With a portfolio spanning more than 90 appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a genuine journey through Burgundy, from regional appellations to the most prestigious Premier and Grand Crus.
The Maison has been awarded the Grappe d'Or by Gault&Millau, recognising the quality of its work and its position among Burgundy's leading producers.
The Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Procès comes from an outstanding Premier Cru vineyard in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, immediately adjacent to the renowned Les Pruliers climat. Maison Joseph Drouhin owns nearly half of this one-hectare vineyard, benefiting from an ideal due-east exposure. The name "Procès" derives from the Latin Processus ("progress" or "legal proceeding") and refers to a historical dispute between the magistrates of Nuits-Saint-Georges and the lords of Premeaux over ownership of the parcel. Its deep, well-drained soils produce a Pinot Noir combining intensity, velvety texture and remarkable elegance.
