Description

Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, is one of Burgundy’s great family-owned wine houses. For four generations, the Drouhin family has crafted wines with the ambition of expressing the remarkable diversity of Burgundy’s terroirs with precision, elegance and authenticity.

With a portfolio spanning more than 90 appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a genuine journey through the richness and diversity of Burgundy, from regional appellations to the most prestigious Premier and Grand Crus.

The Maison has been awarded the Grappe d’Or by Gault&Millau, a distinction that recognises the quality of its work and its position among the leading names in Burgundy.

The village’s name is believed to originate from the ancient Celtic term “Cambola”, meaning “land of good quality” in old Gaulish, reflecting the privileged nature of this terroir. Joseph Drouhin owns several parcels within this mosaic of terroirs, characterised by complex limestone subsoils particularly well suited to Pinot Noir. Renowned for its elegance and delicacy, Chambolle-Musigny is considered one of the finest and silkiest expressions of Burgundian Pinot Noir.

Tasting

Appearance: Bright, vivid and luminous ruby red.

Nose: A complex and remarkably refined bouquet, marked by violet, black cherry and delicate earthy notes. With age, subtle nuances of truffle and more savoury, wild notes may develop.

Palate: Exceptionally elegant, with noble, fine and silky tannins. Freshness is beautifully balanced by a delicate, velvety texture. The finish is long and persistent, with notes of stone fruit and candied fruit.

Food Pairing: Ideal with veal fillet, roast poultry, duck breast, pigeon, delicately braised meats or mature cheeses.

Degree: 13.5%°
