Description

Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, is one of Burgundy's great family-owned wine houses. For four generations, the Drouhin family has crafted wines with the ambition of expressing Burgundy's remarkable terroirs with precision, elegance and authenticity. With a portfolio spanning more than 90 appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers an exceptional journey through Burgundy, from regional appellations to the most prestigious Premier and Grand Crus.

The Maison has been awarded the Grappe d'Or by Gault&Millau, recognising the excellence of its wines and its place among Burgundy's leading producers.

The Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is undoubtedly Burgundy's most iconic vineyard. Covering 50 hectares between Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny, it was cleared and enclosed by the monks of Cîteaux at the end of the 12th century. They also built the château that today serves as the headquarters of the prestigious Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin. Around 80 owners now share this legendary vineyard, including Maison Joseph Drouhin, which owns two beautifully positioned east-facing parcels. The Clos is a remarkable geological mosaic of clay and limestone soils, producing a Pinot Noir of extraordinary depth where power, nobility and elegance come together in perfect balance.

Tasting

Appearance: Pure ruby hue that deepens to warm garnet tones with age; bright and limpid, showing great brilliance.

Nose: Expressive aromas of fresh raspberry and wild cherry, evolving over time into forest-floor, delicate truffle, candied fruit and gentle spice.

Palate: Sublime structure: supple entry followed by noble, finely grained tannins that give both texture and elegance. Remarkable balance between ripe fruit and lively freshness; exceptionally long finish echoing red berries, truffle and woodland notes. A truly moving tasting experience.

Food Pairing: Venison loin with grand veneur sauce, duck confit, porcini mushroom risotto, braised beef cheek, or well-aged cheeses such as Époisses or Soumaintrain.

Degree: 13.5%°
