Description
Founded in Beaune in 1880 by Joseph Drouhin, Maison Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy’s leading family-owned wine houses. Over the generations, the family has developed a philosophy centred on faithfully expressing Burgundy’s diverse terroirs. Its style is defined above all by finesse, elegance and balance, while respecting the individual character of each appellation and vintage.
The Savigny-les-Beaune 2023, made from Pinot Noir, comes from vineyards surrounding the village of Savigny-les-Beaune, nestled in a small valley north of Beaune. The vineyards extend over two hills with northern and southern exposures, on complex soils combining limestone gravel, red, ochre and brown clay, and scree.
Tasting
Appearance: A bright and elegant red colour, reflecting the delicate character of Burgundian Pinot Noir.
Nose: A fine and expressive bouquet revealing spicy notes and floral aromas of violet, characteristic of this terroir, accompanied by wild blackberry. The 2023 vintage also brings beautiful fruit ripeness, with nuances of ripe red and black berries.
Palate: Delicate and elegant, displaying remarkable finesse, refinement and suppleness. The texture is smooth and harmonious, with beautifully ripe fruit. The finish is long, persistent and subtly generous.
Serving temperature: 16°C. The House recommends an optimal drinking period of 5 to 8 years, with ageing potential of up to 10 years.
