Touriga Franca 2020

Nestled on the majestic slopes of the Douro River, Quinta Boavista is a benchmark wine estate devoted to the pure expression of its terroir. Under the direction of Ricardo Macedo and with the expert guidance of Jean-Claude Berrouet – legendary oenologist of Château Pétrus – the estate crafts red wines of remarkable depth, balance, and finesse. Each cuvée reflects a pursuit of excellence, blending Portuguese tradition with Bordeaux expertise to unveil the unique complexity of the Douro’s finest wines.

Touriga Franca, one of the region’s key grape varieties, plays a central role in the estate’s blends. With its high tannin content, it offers excellent aging potential and intense fruit expression. The resulting wines are dense and structured, yet elegant.

Appearance: very deep, dark red robe, almost opaque.

Nose: aromas of black and red fruits — blackberry, wild berries, sometimes plum — with floral notes (rose), a touch of balsamic character, and subtle spicy nuances.

Palate: broad and dense structure, with firm yet elegant tannins. Well-balanced between ripe fruit, tannic depth and freshness. Long, clean and fruit-driven finish.

Food Pairing: perfect with grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, game, sauced dishes, aged cheeses or rustic cuisine that matches the wine’s richness and intensity.

Serving Temperature: serve between 16 and 18 °C. Decanting for around 1 hour is recommended to soften the tannins and fully release the aromas.
