The Quinta Vale D. Maria estate, nestled in the heart of the Douro Valley, celebrates its ancestral vineyards through the emblematic “Vinhas Velhas” cuvée. Made from a traditional blend of 41 historic grape varieties, sourced from vines over 60 years old planted on a 15-hectare plot, it captures the purest expression of the Douro’s schist terroir.

With its varied exposures, meticulous hand selection of the grapes and the estate’s precise craftsmanship, this wine displays remarkable depth and authenticity. It stands as a living tribute to the ancestral viticulture of the Douro, where the natural diversity of grape varieties and the richness of the soil gave birth to wines of timeless complexity and elegance.

Appearance: Deep ruby colour with garnet highlights, dense and bright, revealing the richness of the old Douro vines.

Nose: An intense and elegant bouquet of ripe black fruits (blackberry, blueberry, black cherry), enhanced by floral, spicy and toasted notes.

Palate: Ample and velvety texture, supported by fine, structured tannins. Beautiful mineral freshness and a long, persistent finish with black fruit and cocoa nuances.

Food pairing: Ideal with roast rack of lamb, beef fillet, or aged cheese.
