Description
Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the historic and emblematic estates of the Douro Valley. Today, the estate combines centuries of heritage with precise modern winemaking, showcasing both traditional Portuguese grape varieties and the distinctive terroirs of the Douro. Sousão, known for its intense colour, naturally high acidity and distinctive personality, is given a particularly expressive single-varietal interpretation.
Quinta do Vallado Sousão is made from 100% Sousão. The grapes are vinified for five days in traditional lagares with foot treading. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 16 months in 225-litre French oak barrels, 40% new and 60% second-use. The result is a powerful and concentrated wine beautifully balanced by the variety’s natural freshness.
