Description
Kopke 80 Years Old Tawny is produced by Kopke, founded in 1638 — the oldest active Port house in existence.
This wine is the pinnacle of aged Tawny Port: an “80‑year‑old” Tawny meaning a blend of Ports matured in oak barrels for many decades — the oldest components dating from the late 19th century, the most recent from the 1940s.
It represents generations of cellar‑master stewardship, offering complexity, sweetness mature, texture and elegance — a true tribute to the passage of time.
Tasting
Appearance: Deep amber with greenish hues — a hallmark of extremely old cask-aged Tawny.
Nose: Intense and layered: exotic wood, dried fruits (apricot, fig, prune), candied citrus peel, licorice, caramel, balsamic hints, roasted coffee, clove, and refined oxidative (rancio) tones.
Palate: Silky texture, vibrant acidity. Flavours of dried fruit, citrus, spice, cocoa. Perfect balance and extraordinary length with a warm, mineral finish.
Food Pairing: Ideal with mature cheeses, nut-based desserts, dark chocolate, or on its own.
Serving Temperature: Serve slightly chilled, between 14–16 °C.
