Description
Founded in 1808 in Tain-l'Hermitage, Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the Rhône Valley's most prestigious producers. Still family-owned, it is internationally recognised for its pioneering commitment to biodynamic viticulture and its relentless pursuit of the purest expression of terroir. Guided by its motto "Fac et Spera" – do and hope – the House crafts exceptional wines combining precision, authenticity and elegance.
De l'Orée is one of M. Chapoutier's most prestigious Single Vineyard Selections, produced exclusively from Marsanne. The grapes come from the historic Les Murets vineyard within the Hermitage appellation, where 60- to 70-year-old vines grow on ancient fluvio-glacial terraces rich in rounded pebbles and alluvial deposits. Extremely low yields produce one of the Rhône Valley's greatest white wines, combining remarkable richness, depth, minerality and extraordinary ageing potential.
Tasting
Appearance: Intense golden colour with green highlights.
Nose: Complex aromas of ripe yellow fruit, honey, acacia blossom, hawthorn, toffee, sweet spices and delicate toasted notes.
Palate: Rich, silky and perfectly balanced. Layers of ripe fruit, spice and dried fruit lead to an exceptionally long finish supported by outstanding mineral freshness.
Food Pairing: Perfect with lobster, scallops, roasted turbot, poultry in cream sauce, pan-fried foie gras, sweetbreads and mature cheeses.
