Description

Founded in 1808 in Tain-l'Hermitage, Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the Rhône Valley's most prestigious producers. Still family-owned, it is internationally recognised for its pioneering commitment to biodynamic viticulture and its relentless pursuit of the purest expression of terroir. Guided by its motto "Fac et Spera" – do and hope – the House crafts exceptional wines combining precision, authenticity and elegance.

Le Méal is one of M. Chapoutier's most prestigious Single Vineyard Selections, produced exclusively from Syrah. The grapes come from the famous Le Méal hillside, a steep south-facing vineyard regarded as one of the finest terroirs of the Hermitage appellation. Old vines grow on ancient fluvio-glacial terraces composed of rounded pebbles and loess over deep clay soils. This exceptional site produces a wine of remarkable concentration, combining power, finesse and mineral freshness with outstanding ageing potential.

Tasting

Appearance: Deep garnet red with purple highlights.

Nose: Complex aromas of dark fruits, spices, cedar, smoky notes and refreshing hints of mint.

Palate: Velvety entry with a creamy texture and perfect balance. Jammy black fruits, sweet spices and subtle smoked charcuterie notes lead to an exceptionally long finish.

Food Pairing: Perfect with rib of beef, beef tenderloin, roast game, wild boar terrine or mature cheeses.
