Description
The vineyard of Chorey-les-Beaune was founded in 1237 by Edouard de Froment, the Duke of Burgundy'step-nephew.
The wine is often sold under the more common appellation of Côte-de-Beaune Villages. Joseph Drouhin owns vineyards in Chorey (pronounced "Sho-Ray").
Tasting
Appearance: bright ruby colour, clear and vivid, signalling a wine of precise fruit.
Nose: surprisingly intense fruit character with aromas of wild blackberry, blueberry and blackcurrant, layered with floral scents of peony and violet and a gentle spice nuance.
Palate: a soft, supple entry, graceful and round body, silky tannins, well-integrated structure with lively freshness. The finish is flavour-rich, reminiscent of blackberry jam, and reveals an elegant balance with genuine ageing potential.
Food Pairing: pairs beautifully with roast poultry, classic beef bourguignon or well-matured cheeses, given its fruit-driven elegance.
