Abstract 2022

Art enthusiast and star winemaker Dave Phinney has a real passion for the collage technique, as evidenced by the Abstract label. Like a poster, it's made up of over 230 images collected over many years, which took four long weeks to arrange. Like its label, this wine is a veritable kaleidoscope of samples, the selection of which was refined over several months, during multiple tastings. Not all were selected for the final blend, which embodies the complexity achieved through geographical diversification.

Deep purple, impenetrable center, luminous soft ruby disk. Bewitching bouquet of ripe plums, licorice and blackberry jelly, with hints of cremant chocolate and leather. Powerful and fat, with cocoa-scented tannins and an impressive richness that fills the mouth completely. The interminable finish is a firework display of blue and black berries, with delicate notes of graphite and blackcurrant.

Appearance: Deep purple hue with vibrant ruby highlights.

Nose: Intense aromas of ripe black plum, cocoa, black pepper, cedar, dried porcini mushrooms, and sweet oak.

Palate: Full-bodied entry with notes of blueberry preserves, tarragon, balsamic glaze, and anise. Umami finish reminiscent of grilled eggplant.

Food Pairing: Ideal with grilled meats, spicy dishes, or aged cheeses.

Serving Temperature: Serve between 16 and 18 °C.​
