Description
Founded in 1756 by royal charter of King D. José I, Real Companhia Velha is the oldest wine company in Portugal still in operation. It stands as a living emblem of the Douro Valley's winemaking heritage—now a UNESCO World Heritage Site—and has been a driving force in the development of Port wine for over 265 years. The company owns some of the Douro’s most iconic estates, such as Quinta das Carvalhas, which represent excellence in high-altitude viticulture.
Royal Oporto is the company’s flagship brand, renowned worldwide for its traditional style and remarkable consistency. The Royal Oporto Tawny is a blended Port aged for several years in oak barrels within the historic cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. This Tawny style is distinguished by refined oxidative aromas, a well-balanced sweetness, and a rich aromatic profile featuring dried fruits, subtle spices, and fine oak notes.
A quintessential ambassador of the classic Tawny style—accessible, elegant, and deeply expressive.
