Velhotes Special Reserva tawny

Velhotes Special Reserva Tawny is a premium Port wine crafted by Cálem, a historic house founded in 1859 in Vila Nova de Gaia. Known for its pioneering spirit and iconic caravel logo, Cálem has become a benchmark in Portuguese Port production.

The Velhotes range, created in 1934, is now Portugal’s best-selling Port brand, with over 3 million bottles sold annually. This Tawny is a blend of wines aged in oak casks for around 7 years, revealing a golden-brown hue, aromas of dried fruits, spices and wood, and a smooth, well-structured palate.

Appearance: golden‑brown with amber and brick hints. 

Nose: pronounced aromas of dried fruit (nuts, raisins), sweet spice, honey and subtle oak. 

Palate: smooth start, good structure, velvety mouthfeel, balanced sweetness and acidity, long finish with nods to dried fruit and wood. 

Food pairings: great as a chilled aperitif, with nut‑based desserts, caramel treats, dark chocolate or mature cheese. 

Serving temperature: best served between 12 °C and 14 °C.
